Steve Wright

BRANCH MANAGER

I joined the Brian Bass Travel back in September 1989 as a junior member of the team. I progressed through the nineties and was appointed to my current role – joint Manager of Worldchoice Travel in 2002, when Brian Bass took his retirement.

Many changes and challenges over the years, but we are a strong, dedicated and determined team who always pride ourselves on our customer service levels and our independence to offer the widest choice for our customers.

I really feel lucky to have worked with some great people in our team over the years and we have all gelled together so well. We have the experience and knowledge to help put together all kinds of travel arrangements, from short city breaks, UK holidays right up to Round the World itineraries.

Countries visited:

South Africa, India, Vietnam, Cambodia, Australia, Singapore, Mauritius, UAE, Egypt, Turkey, Greece, Italy, Spain, Portugal, USA, Canada, Costa Rica. (I’m sure I’ve missed quite a few from this list!)

On cruises, I have visited many ports in the Caribbean, Mediterranean and also the Norwegian Fjords.

Favourite destination:

I get asked this all the time! I loved South Africa, with all it’s diversity and mix of bustling cities and safaris. But then again, Costa Rica with its rainforests and wildlife was truly an amazing experience. And I have to mention my profile picture. This photo was taken in the Sun City Studios in Memphis (home studio to Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, Roy Orbison and many others) during a fabulous unforgettable tour of the Southern States of America. Truly another travel highlight!

Last trip:

My last foreign trip was a long weekend visit to see family in Dubai before COVID, back in January 2020. As well as seeing my family, whilst there, I also took part in the Dubai Marathon which was an incredible event to be a part of.

Where next?

My to do list is still quite extensive. My dream would be to drive the full length of Route 66 East to West in USA. And then, hopefully tag on a trip to Hawaii at the end. Maybe when I retire!

Travel tip:

Plan, Plan, Plan. Do some research, either yourself or with the help of travel experts like ourselves. Whatever type of holiday/travel you are arranging, get an idea of what you want from it. Are there some excursions, or sights you want to see? Chances are, you won’t be the only ones, so check if anything needs to be pre-booked to avoid disappointment.

I truly believe that everyone deserves at least one holiday each year. Whether that’s a UK short break or something more, it doesn’t matter. We all need a change of scenery from time to time. Recent times have shown me this!
